The primary purpose of the Washington County Historical Society is to promote the public interest and participation in the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of Washington County. The organization has been best known for its active role in the preservation of Washington County history through the publishing of 19 historical books.
The society has developed the Heritage Research Library for public use and in addition presents exhibits on various aspects of washington County history and has a central location for meetings, lecturers and workshops.
